What It Treats
Restore Volume, Refine Your Profile
Dermal fillers are hyaluronic acid gels, similar to a substance your body already makes, placed beneath the skin to restore lost volume, add structure and soften folds. Your injector chooses the product and the amount for your anatomy and the look you want, so results stay balanced and natural.
Cheeks & Jawline
Lifts the mid-face where volume fades with age, and defines the jawline for a more sculpted lower face.
Chin
Adds projection or length to the chin to balance your profile and bring the whole face into proportion.
Smile Lines
Softens the folds that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth without changing your natural expression.

What to Expect
Your Appointment, Step by Step
Most filler visits take about 30 to 60 minutes, including your consultation and numbing.

Consultation
Your injector reviews your medical history and any past filler, studies your facial proportions, and agrees with you on the areas, the product and how many syringes to use.

Numbing
A topical numbing cream can be applied first. Most fillers also contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to keep you comfortable during treatment.

Treatment
Filler is placed in small amounts and shaped as your injector goes, checking symmetry and balance from every angle before you leave.

Aftercare
You’ll leave with personalized aftercare instructions. Avoid pressing on or massaging the treated areas unless your injector tells you to, and skip strenuous exercise for the rest of the day.
Downtime
Little Downtime, Some Swelling
Most people go straight back to work or everyday plans. Mild swelling, tenderness and redness are common at first, and the treated area can feel a little firm for a few days.
Bruising is possible and usually fades within about a week, so book at least two weeks before a wedding, photos or another big event. Contact us right away if you notice unusual pain, skin color changes, blanching or any change in your vision after treatment.
Results
What You’ll See, How Long It Lasts
You’ll see a difference immediately, and your final result shows once any swelling has settled, usually after about two weeks.
How long filler lasts depends on the product, the area and your metabolism. Many clients see results for several months to over a year, and denser products used in the cheeks, jaw and chin tend to last longer. Because these fillers are hyaluronic acid, they can be dissolved if needed. Results vary from person to person.

How many syringes will I need?
It depends on the areas you treat, how much volume you’ve lost and the result you want. Many clients start with one or two syringes. Your injector will recommend an amount, and confirm the total cost, at your consultation before anything is injected.
Does filler hurt?
Most clients feel some pressure and a pinch. Numbing cream and the lidocaine built into most fillers keep the treatment comfortable.
Will it look natural?
That’s the goal. Your injector works in small amounts and keeps your proportions in mind, so you look refreshed rather than done. If you’re unsure, starting conservatively and adding more later is a good approach.
Can filler be reversed?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. Read more in our guide to Hylenex filler dissolver.
What’s the difference between filler and neurotoxin?
Filler adds volume to fill folds and shape features. Neurotoxin relaxes the muscles that cause expression lines. Many clients combine the two, and your provider can talk you through the options. See our Neurotoxins page for more.
Who shouldn’t get dermal filler?
Filler isn’t recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with an active infection or cold sore in the treatment area. Certain allergies, medical conditions and medications may also rule it out.
